About

Angela Sanders is a San Francisco–based artist and educator citations whose practice is rooted in themes of migration, memory, and ecological change. Born in Yorkshire, England, she emigrated with her family to Canada and later to the United States. These formative experiences of displacement and adaptation continue to shape the narratives in her work.

Sanders received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, MFA from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Certificate from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, England, Italy, France, China, Turkey, and the United States. She has participated in residencies at GoCM Gallery (Chicago, IL), Sardinia, Italy, and Cill Rialaig, Ireland.

Sanders has also been recognized with numerous national and international awards. Her work is held in public and private collections in Turkey, England, China, Puerto Rico, and the United States. Her piece Roiling is part of the permanent collection of the Museo de Mosaicos de Zeugma in Turkey.

Working across mixed media, textiles, painting, sculpture, and installation, Sanders transforms materials such as glass, ceramics, wood, latex, jute, minerals, and wax into works that carry narratives of loss, resilience, and belonging. Her practice often responds to climate change and migration; reimagining the traces of human and non-human lives as interconnected, fragile, and enduring.
